LaGuardia Airport
Along with John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, LaGuardia Airport (LGA) is one of the three main airports serving the New York City area. Thousands of travelers travel from LaGuardia daily to places throughout the United States and some foreign locations. Over 22 million people passed through LGA in 2019.
Know Before You Go
A, B, C, and D are the four different terminals at the airport. With four concourses, Terminal B is the biggest terminal. The airport's construction started in 2016 and finished around 2022, with significant projects getting finished along the way.
Airlines at LaGuardia Airport
- Air Canada - Terminal B
- American Airlines - Terminal B
- Delta Airlines - Terminal C
- Frontier Airlines - Terminal A
- Jet Blue - Terminal B
- Southwest Airlines - Terminal B
- Spirit - Terminal A
- United Airlines - Terminal A

- Terminal B: Air Canada, American Airlines, Southwest, United Airlines
- Terminal C: Delta Airlines, Spirit, WestJet

Airport Parking
There are several private parking facilities and parking lots at LGA for both short- and long-term parking. Passengers can take shuttle buses from the parking lot to the terminals.
Here is a list of the available parking alternatives right now, but for the most up-to-date information, you can get in touch with our travel experts.
Terminal A: The terminal's closest parking space is unprotected. Here, premium parking places must be reserved online in advance. Cash and E-ZPass Plus are not accepted at the lot.
Terminal B: Use the brand-new garage across the street from Terminal B. You can still use E-ZPass here when leaving, but cash is no longer accepted.
Terminals C & D: Use the closest covered parking lot for Terminals C and D. Here, premium parking places must be reserved online. You can use E-ZPass or the pay-on-foot terminals to make cash payments when leaving.
Drivers must remain in their vehicles for the first three hours at the B wait area near terminal A.
Long-term parking: Talk to us if you need to park at LaGuardia for more than 30 days. Your name, license plate number, and the approximate number of days you plan to park at the airport will be required. Prices as of 2021:
- 1/2 hour: $5
- Each additional 1/2 hour: $5
- 24 hours: $39
Driving Directions
Take the Grand Central Parkway to Exits 6 and 7 to access Terminal B and Terminals C and D, respectively. Head to Terminal A from Exit 5.
Public Transportation and Taxis
Unless a friend or member of your family drops you off, taking public transportation is the most affordable option to travel to and from LaGuardia. However, to reach the airport, you must travel by subway, Long Island Rail Road, or Metro-North Railroad, then transfer to one of the numerous buses that will transport you to the terminals.
Buses
Currently, only one kind of public transportation is available to get to the airport: buses. An Airtrain is also included in the rebuilding plan.
To go to all four terminals, board the M60 at stops in northern Manhattan or Queens. You can use the subway to board this bus at any stop if you're coming from another borough.
The Jackson Heights and Woodside neighborhoods of Queens are serviced by the LaGuardia Link Q70 SBS bus, which travels between terminals B, C, and D. Take the E, F, M, R, or seven lines to Jackson Heights/Woodside and change to the bus to get to the airport.
The ‘SBS’ stands for select bus service; to board this type of bus, you must use your pre-paid Metro card to purchase a paper ticket from a kiosk at the bus stop.
Only Terminal A is served by the Q47 bus at the airport. To connect with this bus in Jackson Heights, Queens, take the subway.
As of January 2021, a one-way bus or metro ride costs $2.75. Within metro stations, there are vending machines where you may purchase a MetroCard that is good for both the bus and the subway. Near the airport's exits are vending machines where you can purchase a Metro Card if you're departing.
Taxis
Fares to Manhattan from LaGuardia (and vice-versa) are metered. Expect to pay a minimum of $45, including tips and tolls. If there is traffic, the fare can rise significantly.
Ride Sharing Services
Anyone who wants an Uber, Lyft, or comparable service can provide curbside at terminals A, C, and D's passenger pickup areas. However, you land at Terminal B. In that case, you'll need to walk across the street to Level 2 of the brand-new adjacent parking garage to catch your ride because ridesharing service drivers wait inside the garage and pick up all their passengers there.
Where to Eat and Drink
Here are the best places to grab food and drinks throughout the airport:
- CIBO Express Gourmet Market (C and D)
- Dunkin' Donuts (Terminal B)
- Artichoke (Terminal C, gates C28-29)
- World Bean (Terminals C and D)
- Sit-Down Restaurants
- Shake Shack (Terminal B, B gates)
- Biergarten (Terminal C, gates C28-29)
- Bisoux (Terminal D, gate D11)
- Tagliare (Terminal D, food hall)
- Crust (Terminal D, gate D11)
How to Spend Your Layover
Since LaGuardia is the closest of the region's three main airports to Midtown Manhattan, depending on how long your stopover is, you can spend several hours or a whole day visiting and enjoying the city.
The trip from LaGuardia to Midtown Manhattan takes roughly 25 to 30 minutes when there is no traffic, but since there is almost always traffic in New York City, allow more time. It takes roughly 45 minutes to travel into the city using public transportation.
If you want to explore the city, there is much to do in the Queens neighborhood surrounding the airport. Buses can take you from the airport to Jackson Heights, Woodside, and Astoria, which are well-known for their fantastic food scenes and other attractions, including parks and museums.
LaGuardia Tips and Tidbits
When NYC Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia passed away in 1947, the airport, known as the New York City Municipal Airport, changed its name in his memory. The airport offers free WiFi to all visitors. It is called "_Free LGA WiFi."
